After an average of 26.5 days of Ramadan fasting, Maryam Alinezhad-Namaghi and colleagues found that arterial age was reduced by 7 years, representing a 1.8% decrease in the Framingham risk score for CVDs. Moreover, the 4.35 mmHg reduction in central systolic blood pressure can be considered equivalent to a 10.44% reduction in the risk of stroke. The improvement of 3.25% in the central augmentation index also suggests a reduction in cardiovascular and all cause mortality.
