November 9, 2021Blood Pressure and Arterial Stiffness in Association with Aircraft Noise Exposure: Long-Term Observation and Potential Effect of COVID-19 Lockdown
A research group from the Institute of Cardiology led by Wiktoria Wojciechowska reported that long-term exposure to aircraft noise is associated with increased arterial stiffness and hypertension in overweight and slightly obese subjects. The group found that decrease in noise exposure, due to COVID-19 lockdown, led to improvements in blood pressure and pulse wave velocity. The finding suggests that short-term noise reduction may reverse the negative effects of long-term noise exposure.
