The Cardiex Arterial Research Initiative Terms & Conditions
Overview
Cardiex is a medical technology company that develops and markets non-invasive patient monitoring technologies for assessing vascular health. The Company's suite of products includes medical and home health devices and digital solutions for hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and other vascular health disorders - all based on the Company's market-leading SphygmoCor® vascular biomarker technology.
We are launching the Cardiex Arterial Research Initiative, a search to identify breakthrough research in arterial stiffness and vascular health, to further the society’s understanding relating to the world's most common health disorders including hypertension, CVD, Alzheimer's disease, chronic kidney disease (CKD), and other major vascular health conditions.
The Cardiex Arterial Research Initiative will have five phases:
- Submission Phase – Cardiex will accept research submissions during this phase.
- Evaluation Phase - Following an administrative triage, proposals will be reviewed by a panel of CardieX experts and evaluated against the Evaluation Criteria.
- Voting Phase – The Cardiex experts will select 10 finalists and present their ideas for peer voting.
- Selection Phase – The final winners of the Cardiex Arterial Research Initiative Award will be chosen by their peers through voting.

How to Participate
- Interested participants may indicate their intent to participate in the Initiative by submitting their contact information during the Pre-Launch Phase at www.cardiex.com/contest. Joining the Pre-Launch Phase email list does not constitute an entry in the Initiative. CardieX will notify all interested parties when the Submission Phase begins.
- Interested participants should carefully and thoroughly review the Initiative's Terms and Conditions, Evaluation Criteria, and submission instructions.
- Participants should submit their research proposal through the submission portal (www.cardiex.com/contest). Ensure your Team or Entity has thoroughly responded to each question and fully submitted the proposal by March 31, 2024, at 11:59 PM Eastern Time.
Please note that your submission is not complete until we receive your presentation deck. If you have not already submitted it, you can email the deck as an attachment to arterialresearchinitiative@cardiex.com (10 slides max, saved as a PDF document).
Eligibility
Participation in the Initiative is open to any research organizations with an idea for a distinct research study that will significantly advance our understanding and improve arterial health. Entrants must formally register and can compete as either an individual or as a Team.
Finalist Selection and Winner Determination
A distinguished panel of judges will be meticulously assembled. These judges, renowned experts in the fields of arterial health, vascular research, and medical technology, will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the evaluation process. Their expertise will ensure that the assessment of research proposals is both comprehensive and impartial, fostering a fair and rigorous selection of the finalists and ultimate winners.
The winners of the Cardiex Arterial Research Initiative will be selected through a transparent and engaging public voting process. After a careful evaluation by our expert panel of judges, the top ten finalists will present their innovative research ideas for consideration by the wider scientific and healthcare community. This democratic approach allows peers, researchers, and the interested public to actively participate in the selection of the final awardees.
Evaluation Criteria for Finalist Selection
SCIENTIFIC
- Does the proposed research have the potential adding new insight to the existing knowledge around arterial health?
- Will the proposed research improve the current approach to the prediction, detection, diagnosis, and/or monitoring one or more health conditions impacted by arterial stiffness?
- Is the proposed research powered appropriately to capture the essential data and insights needed to address the research objectives and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field?
CLINICAL
- Does the proposed research have utility in extending care and improving health outcomes?
- Will the proposed research inform and enable clinicians to use arterial stiffness measurements within the current standard of care processes / workflow?
- Will the proposed research inform and enable an individual to seek additional care or take actions to improve their health?
TEAM AND INFRASTRUCTURE
- Does the research team possess the necessary expertise and experience to successfully carry out the proposed research?
- Is the available infrastructure, including equipment and facilities, sufficient to support the research project?
- Are there clear plans for collaboration and communication within the research team to ensure the project's success?
Data Sharing Agreement
By submitting to the contest, and should the contestant be chosen as a finalist and awarded a prize, the contestant commits to reviewing and sharing their research data with Cardiex. This collaborative partnership extends beyond the initial stages of the contest, fostering a continued relationship with Cardiex. This collaboration allows for a more comprehensive exchange of knowledge, ensuring that the research outcomes are shared and discussed with Cardiex, who may bring their expertise and resources to the table.
