Association of Time-Restricted Feeding, Arterial Age, and Arterial Stiffness in 95 Adults with Metabolic Syndrome
July 3, 2023Metabolomic Signature of Early Vascular Aging (EVA) in Hypertension
February 9, 2024Menopause and Accelerated Aortic Stiffness
Although the risk of CVD increases with age in both sexes, the risk accelerates more sharply in postmenopausal women than in men. A group led by O’Neill longitudinally assessed 512 women throughout the menopause stages. They found that rather than the transition from pre to early menopause not conducive to increased EVA but rather post menopause. Late post menopause women showed significant acceleration in aortic stiffness contributing to a greater cardiovascular risk. The progression of EVA is suggested to be associated with the withdrawal of estrogen.
