Battistoni and colleagues, review the importance of measuring central blood pressure and pulse wave velocity for better management of hypertension. They state that patients with high central blood pressure are not properly treated due to subclinical brachial systolic BP that is recommended for treatment initiation leading to progressive EVA. They deem the need to integrate non-invasive measurement of central hemodynamics, to aid in identifying patients with higher cardiovascular risk which will also determine the appropriate treatment. Treatments such as statins are more appropriate for to improve arterial stiffness.
