Gómez-Marcos and his team examined 501 participants ranging in age from 35 to 75 years to determine if specific duration or types of sedentary behaviours are associated with vascular health. Individuals with normal vascular aging spent a significantly lower number of total hours per week being inactive. Watching television was a sedentary behaviour more closely correlated with EVA than other behaviours (commuting or workplace). Therefore, these results propose that reducing sedentary behaviour and overall time is important for maintaining vascular health and reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease.
